If no one disagrees, no one debates, no friction exists around your work, that means no one cares that deeply or has a true vision.

When people care, they have passion, they fight for things, they push relentlessly to have their vision come to life, to make it the one way they see it in their heads.

If it runs smoothly with no disagreements and everyone happy at the end, you can pretty much guarantee it will be middle-of-the-road mediocre.

We must get comfortable with the idea that passionate debate over ideas is not a “fight” and people shouldn’t get nervous or scared. This is just how it has to be if we want to do our best work.
